We’re very pleased to hear that our drivers are contributing positively to road safety in your village.   I will pass your message on to all drivers as an example.

We appreciate the time you took to share such positive feedback. It's not often that people take the time to highlight what's going well, so your message is very encouraging.

Commercial Vehicles Project

This is an idea put forward from the Parish Plan Traffic, Travel and Transport Group (ttt).

Many commercial vehicles use our road. Many comply with the legal speed limit but some don't. If the Village can reduce the speed of these vehicles, we might slow the rest down as well.

The group decided that we'd send Thank You letters to companies who are complying with the law and reminder letters to those who don't. The letters are very similar just replacing the Thank You with We'd like to Remind You.

This is the Thank You letter:

Dear Team,

                  It’s only half a mile at 20.

We’d like to Thank You.

Your vehicles travel through our Village and we’ve noticed that many comply with the clearly signed legal speed limit of 20mph.

We do understand that businesses such as yours need to get on and we’d like to thank you.

It’s important to us because it means our Residents can get on, and off their driveways.

Our Children can safely cross the road.

Our Residents can be safe walking along our narrow pavements.

We understand that our Village straddles an A road but with your help and compliance to the legal speed limit, we can all make our Village a safer place to walk in, cycle, park, drive around and through.

                  It’s only half a mile at 20.

With kind regards

Buckland Dinham Community Speedwatch Team
